Lynette Simons is the Artistic Dance Director of the African American Cultural Center and Kakilambe Dance and Drum Performance Company.
She started as the principle dance instructor under the direction of Linda D. Barr, Teaching in the Ronnie Latham dance chamber. Over the years Lynette has studied Dunham Technique, Traditional West African… from Senegal, Guinea and Ghana from several master dancers.
Ms. Simons will be teaching West African movement . “Afro” refers mainly to the dance of sub-saharan African dance more appropriately African dances because of the many cultural differences in music and movement styles. Also a collaboration of Afro-Caribbean dance series that will take you on a journey of joy and exuberance combining the elegant, rhythmic movement isolations of African dance with the music of the folk traditions of Europe and the first nation peoples in Americas. This series is a unique and joyful and energetic movement experience.
